Joe Annino and Thor Emblem of GSH Group attended IFMA Phoenix a couple weeks ago!
Last month, members from the West Coast attended the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) show in Phoenix, Arizona. Joe Annino, Regional Engineering Manager and Thor Emblem, Regional Director of Operations were in attendance. Since 1980, the IFMA has been the leading industry association for facilities management services and its San Diego branch is one of its most prominent chapters – each year the event grows in participation and prominence. This year’s show featured keynote speakers, hundreds of exhibitors, a grand reception, and several educational programs.
The speech given by keynote speaker; Robyn Benincasa was phenomenal! Robyn is a World Champion Adventure Racer, Award-Winning Motivational Speaker, 3x Guinness World Record Kayaker, San Diego Firefighter, 10x Ironman Triathlete, New York Times Bestselling Author, and much more! She spoke to us about competition, and more importantly winning and what it means to her. Her commentary on seeing ‘roadblocks’ as ‘challenges to be overcome and her emphasis on team success over individual glory really parallel the GSH approach to facilities management.
Over the two-day event, there was ample opportunity to explore the trade show. For those that attended the 2019 Building Owners of America (BOMA) International Conference & Expo in Salt Lake City, the layout and field of attendees was very similar. Exhibitors included those specializing in access control, janitorial services, facilities engineering, food services, workorder software providers, and many others. Thor and Joe made contact with many new and familiar names in the industry.
GSH’s competitors were also in-attendance and exhibiting; the contingency noted the presence of C&W Services, Flagship, DMS, Sodexo, Insight Facility Maintenance, ABM, Emcor, CBRE, and Able. They are just a few familiar names that also attended the BOMA International event with us in Salt Lake.
GSH Group recognizes attendance and participation in these events are essential in maintaining an active and recognizable industry presence. As a team, we are already looking forward to next June and the 2020 BOMA International Conference & Expo in Philadelphia!
